My wife and I have 3 kids and thus we have a big car. We bought the Suburban 5 years ago and the guilt has been building up. I'm a big believer in driving cars forever, so what do do?more-on-biometrics

Adam points to a recent academic work on reproducing fingerprints from the 'templates' of data points that most systems use (instead of a full image of the fingerprint).because-they-did-such-a-good-job-saving-the-humans

From SFGAte.com comes this:
States will be required to help evacuate pets during a natural disaster such as a hurricane or earthquake or risk losing federal money under a bill signed Friday by President Bush.I'll keep it short here:
- This is dangerous. Scared animals are dangerous
- This is expensive.
The law also authorizes FEMA to provide additional money to create pet-friendly shelters and provide special assistance to pet owners.

Greetings everyone. Just wanted to let you know that we have been working on a Plone upgrade for the website. I know it doesn't look at that different, but it is. At least based on the amount of work it took to upgrade :). The Blog is now 'inside' of plone, which is nice.

ComputerWorld has the list of 24 questions HHS had for Piedmont Hospital (where my three children were born, incidentally, as well as my wife, though that was earlier). Adam points to an article on law.com about the government's increased focus on HIPAA compliance which includes this choice quote from Joseph Lazzarotti of Jackson Lewis' White Plains, N.Y., office and what he advises his clients:
"I want them to know that HIPAA does really mean something and the government is going to do something about it. What that is, well, it's more than they were doing yesterday," Lazzarotti said.Of course, that is not saying much since there have only been 4 convictions out of 26,000 complaints.
