ATLANTA, Ga. - October 21th 2010 – WiKID Systems, Inc has been chosen by secure virtual hosting specialist VM Racks, Inc. of San Diego, Ca. to provide two-factor authentication for its HIPAA-compliant service offerings. The offering is available immediately.

The WiKID Strong Authentication System is a dual-source two-factor authentication solution that combines strong asymmetric encryption with software tokens on Blackberry smart phones, J2ME devices, Windows Mobile devices, iPhones and Android devices - as well as Windows, Linux and Apple PCs to create a secure, highly-scalable and flexible one-time password system.

Nick Owen, co-founder and CEO of WiKID Systems commented, “We’re eager to form relationships with companies like VM Racks that are serving a growing market space that requires advanced security measures. Our two-factor system is less expensive, more extensible and easier to use than traditional tokens so it fits well with VM Racks’ model of offering an enterprise grade solution at a very reasonable cost."

“Our customer base knows they must comply with requirements for multi-factor authentication, but are put off by the high cost of the hardware-based, two-factor systems”, says Gil Vidals CEO of VM Racks. “WiKID Systems gives our clients a viable option that meets their HIPAA obligation and stays within their budget”, added Gil. The government recently toughened HIPAA notification requirements, enforcement and extended it to “business associates”.

Virtual hosting offers companies a less-expensive route to HIPAA compliance. In some instances, facilities may need man-traps, biometric readers and visitor escorts. Using a service provider spreads these costs out, but introduces security concerns. “A key part of securing any hosted environment is controlling who has access to the data. That means strong authentication for both the network and applications,” added Owen.

WiKID is increasingly partnering with cloud-based application and hosting providers seeking to assure customers that moving information off premise is secure and who appreciate WiKID's flexible licensing structure and mutli-tenant aware API. The API allows customers to manage securely their own users on a WiKID server with minimal support from the provider's administrators.
