MorbidDKHello, I'm having some problems getting WiKID Community Edition v3.4.87 running on a new Ubuntu 12.04 server. I keep getting /opt/WiKID/bin/daemonctl: line 238: /usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-common/bin/java: No such file or directory in my centralLogger.log, which I am guessing why the service doesn't start but I can't seem to fix or figure out why its looking where it is.12:45

laszlofMorbidDK: did you follow the install docs and setup java properly?13:06
laszlofalso, it looks like you have the wrong java installed13:07
laszlofhttp://www.wikidsystems.com/support/wikid-support-center/installation-how-tos/How_to_install_the_WiKID_debs_on_Ubuntu13:08
nowenMorbidDK: is there a usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-common/bin/java?13:08
nowenyou might need to export the correct java home13:08
laszloflooks like the ubuntu docs dont tell you to export13:08
laszlofor use alternatives13:08
nowenI don't think I have had to13:09
nowennow that I think about it13:09
laszloflooks like the latest version of ubuntu uses openjdk 713:09
* nowen starts building a 12.04 serve13:17
MorbidDKnowen: there is not, and I have a correctly exported java_home13:26
MorbidDKecho $JAVA_HOME13:26
MorbidDK/usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-amd6413:26
nowenahh13:26
MorbidDKactually... I didn't even have java-7 installed when I first installed WiKID, so I really have no clue where it was pulling that java-7-openjdk-common from13:27
nowendid that get it started?14:00
MorbidDKnope14:04
MorbidDKsame error14:04
nowenshould it be  /usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-amd64/jre?14:04
MorbidDKit appears to be... had to set Ubuntu's sudoroot java_home it appears14:11
MorbidDKhrms, however now its telling me that Radius protocol is not currently supported14:20
nowenhttp://www.wikidsystems.com/community-version/front-page/support/wikid-support-center/faq/whats-the-difference-between-the-community-release-and-enterprise-release/?searchterm=what%20is%20the%20difference14:20
MorbidDKyeah, that's what I figured14:21
nowensorry14:21
nowenyou can write a plugin for freeradius using the api14:22
MorbidDKyeah, was sorta hoping the Radius implementation was freeradius, but we'll have to take it from here. in any event it seems like this is a far shot better than dealing with daloradius14:22
nowenit's not really a full implementation of a radius server, just the ability to talk radius14:23
nowenhmm, looks like daloradius is php.  we have a php api package too14:24
MorbidDKalrighty, well thanks for the help14:42
nowenwhat's your plan?14:42
MorbidDKSomething I'll have to figure out. Right now this is looking pretty good though, LDAP will work for the time being.14:43

gvidalsowen the download link to the recommended bundle is broken and giving a 40415:11
nowenhmm15:11
gvidalsi have a client trying to access it now and it's not there. i'm having him try the locked software instead.15:11
nowenfixed15:14
nowenthanks for letting me kow15:14
nowenknow15:14
gvidalsglad you fixed it right away.15:14
nowenwell, it was my mistake, so I knew just how to fix it ;)15:14
nowenjust emailed you on the other thing15:18
gvidalsok15:18
gvidalsowen the license if for 10 simultaneous users? Can i have 20 users, for example, but only 10 that are actually logging in?15:28
nowenWiKID has no concept of sessions or simultaneous users, only seats15:30
gvidalsso i have 12 user IDs currently.15:32
nowenare they all enabled?15:33
gvidalsyup15:33
nowenare you adding more?15:33
gvidalsi might be able to remove a couple, but yea, the idea is to add more as I get more clients.15:34
nowenyeah, just curious15:34
gvidalsso may be I paid for more? is the system suppose to prevent me from going beyond the lic. limit when attempting to add a new user ID?15:35
nowennot yet15:35
nowenlunch time -15:56

nowenhey18:41
gvidalshey owen. need help with a user who can't install the client app on their win7 system.18:41
gvidalshe's installing the recommended (unlocked) version18:42
gvidalsit's the one where the link was missing this morning.18:42
nowenis he running ESAT or some other type of anti-malware software?18:43
gvidalsyes, he has AGV, but he claims to have stopped it and tried again.18:45
nowenwhat is happening?18:45
gvidalshe's now trying it on his laptop now.18:45
gvidalshe gets the clock (hour glass) and waits for 15 minutes.... nothing ever happens.18:46
gvidalsi'm having him try it on his laptop to see if he has success there.18:46
nowenwhen? when trying to add a domain?18:46
gvidalsno, on the initial install.18:46
gvidalsstuck at step 718:46
gvidalsso stuck after continuing to next step (between 7 & 8)18:47
gvidalsis JRE required?18:47
nowenwhich step is 7 again? creating the shortcut?18:48
gvidalsyea shortcut18:48
nowenthe jre is required.18:48
nowensounds like a permissions problem18:48
gvidalshe says he can't install jre either on his laptop.18:48
gvidalshis system says it doesn't know how to run a JAR file, so he is downloading Sun Java JRE18:49
nowenodd18:50
gvidalshe had the same thing on his laptop.18:50
gvidalsi mean his desktop18:50
nowenI would think that he couldn't get to step 7 without being able to18:50
nowenahh18:50
gvidals345-123-795 his the join.me so you can see his screen18:51
gvidalsif you go to join.me and put that number in, you can see his screen.18:51
nowen ok18:52
nowenI see it18:52
gvidalsthe user says he doesn't have any option to say Y/N on shortcuts on one of the two installs.18:55
gvidalswhere do you want the shortcuts to be installed?18:55
nowenok, let me test on a machine here18:55
gvidalson the windows 7 version (the one he is screen sharing) doesn't give any options (just blank)18:55
nowenwhat happens if he clicks next18:56
gvidalsso the netbooks running windows XP completed, but not on the win7 desktop18:56
gvidalsafter next, you get the spinning wheel of death.18:56
gvidalsso the problem is on win7 64-bit18:56
nowenyou sure he's not running something that is blocking the app from writing to the disk?18:58
nowenhave him try this one: http://www.wikidsystems.com/webdemo/tokens/j2se/3.1.22/wikidtoken-3.1.22.exe18:59
gvidalsdo you see his screen19:03
gvidalsthe link you sent worked.19:03
nowenexcellent19:03
gvidalsok, so i'll keep the link handy i guess.19:04
nowenI'm curious as to whether he will be able to start it again without a shortcut19:04
nowenhuh, well just worked for me on win 7 64 bit19:07
nowenhave him quit and restart19:08
gvidalshe had tried rebooting earlier and turned off AVG, but no good.19:11
gvidalsso your link worked and we'll stick with that one for now.19:11
gvidalsseems that step 7 isn't presenting the options and that could be why it is hanging19:11
nowenwell it is working fine for me on win 7 64 bit19:12
nowenI'm worried that the token will not work twice, it depends on where he saved it19:13
gvidalswhere should he save it to ensure it will work?19:13
nowenin a directory where he has has permissions to write a file19:14
nowenwhich might have happened automatically19:14
nowenI might just make that one the recommended one instead19:32
*** gvidals has quit (Ping timeout: 245 seconds)19:53
laszlofnowen: will wikid accept the X-Forwarded-For header with token client requests?20:23
nowenI'll have to ask someone smarter than i20:23
laszlofI'm doing what we talked about the other day, and forwarding token client requests through another server using a proxy20:25
laszlofbut I want to make sure the token IP's get recorded in wikid logs20:25
laszlofand not the IP of my proxy server20:25
nowenthe token itself has proxy capabilities, so... maybe?20:26
laszlofthe X-Forwarded-For header is sent through, typically its a good idea to pull this as the client IP if its there20:26
