nowenGood morning14:07
EbbingerHello everyone, i am having a wierd issue with the wikid client. we have several machines that keep getting stuck at the token passphrase screen. even with correct token it wont get past this screen. in order to fix this issue we have to delete the wikid configuration file and re authenticate the user. can someone help me pin-point the cause of this problem?14:08
nowenwhat OS is this?14:08
Ebbingerwindows 7 and windows xp - both professional and xp is 32bit windows 7 is mix of 32 and 64bit14:09
nowenwas it working before and now broken or is this new installs?14:10
Ebbingerwe have found that our mcafee internet security was deleting the wikid configuration file and causing this problem before - but we changed our mcafee settings to ignore the wikid config directory and now the file isn't being deleted anymore - but this problem is still happening14:10
Ebbingerit was working before and works fine on new installs. it appears that after the first two or three connections with wikid this problem happens14:10
nowendoes  mcafee block the token from connecting to the internet?14:11
Ebbingerthe user accounts in wikid are still setup properly and enabled - so it is something on the individual client machines14:11
Ebbingerif it did, when i delete the config file and reauthenticate the user's in the admin wouldn't it not be able to connect. because after i delete the file and reauthenticate the client works again for a few days.14:11
nowenahh - so it works for a few days, then stops working?14:12
Ebbingeryes, and it isn't always the same amount of time. so i think it's tied to how many times the users connected through wikid14:12
Ebbingerbut i havent been able to narrow down that number yet14:12
nowenwow, that's a new one14:13
nowencould it be related to a restart of the computer?  or logging in and out?14:14
Ebbingeryeah. and as i said we know that mcafee was causing issues as it was scanning the wikid configuration folder and deleting the wikid config file. but even after setting mcafee to ignore that directory this issue remains - although that file is no longer deleted14:14
Ebbingerwe have a couple test machines that we are trying to isolate the problem - and we have completely removed mcafee to isolate the issue. it still happens without mcafee on the machine so i dont think its related to that...14:15
nowenthat file is a standard p12 file format14:15
Ebbingerdo you think maybe the file is being corrupted somehow? because the problem that is occuring is the exact same as when mcafee was deleting that file - everytime you enter the token it just brings you back to the token screen whether it was a correct token or not there is no indication14:17
nowencould be.14:17
nowenyou could check the file size or md5 sum over time, I suppose14:18
Ebbingeronly after entering multiple incorrect tokens to bring up the delete configuration button (and then deleting the configuration) and reauthenticating the user are we able to get past that screen14:18
Ebbingergood idea - i didn't think of doing an md5 on the file over time...14:18
nowenthat file can change if you add another domain, but I think if you don't it shouldn't14:19
Ebbingerwe only have one domain so that wouldn't be a problem...14:19
nowenwe don't have any other reports of this, at least yet14:19
Ebbingerwell i was hoping someone may have seen this issue before and know the cause - but thanks for the help. I will keep an eye on the file and try to figure out the cause of our problems. If i do find out what is causing it i will report it.14:20
nowenplease do.14:20
nowenlet me know if there is anything we can do to help14:21
Ebbingerthank you - now i'm off to do some testing!14:21
